FOX NEWS CHANNEL DETHRONES CNN IN 24 HOUR CYCLES

For the first time FOXNEWS has become the most-watched cable news network in 24 hour cycles in America, according to NIELSEN MEDIA RESEARCH.

FNC defeated all cable news networks in total viewers in both the 24-Hour and Prime Time periods, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned, topping CNN in ratings, households and persons 25-54 for the month of January in both time periods!

"We went over the top!" a top FOX source said from New York City on Tuesday. "While they've been busy down in Atlanta trying to figure out who is sexy or not, we've been giving viewers coast-to-coast compelling coverage."

In the 24-Hour time period, FNC averaged a .7 rating, 539,000 households and 656,000 viewers. Its closest competitor, CNN, averaged a .6 rating, 525,000 households and 596,000 viewers for the month.

In Prime Time, FNC averaged a 1.1 rating, 840,000 households and 1,091,000 viewers for the month. CNN averaged a .9 rating, 757,000 households and 921,000 viewers.

FNC is also the number one news network in the coveted persons 25-54 demographic after only being on the dish for five and half years. FNC averaged 277,000 persons 25-54 in 24 Hour and 415,000 persons in Prime Time.

In addition, FNC had four out of the top five cable news shows. The O�Reilly Factor continued its reign as the number one show on cable news with 1,956,000 viewers. The FOX Report with Shepard Smith was a close third to CNN�s Larry King Live, averaging 1,265,000 viewers to King�s 1,273,000 viewers. FNC�s Special Report with Brit Hume placed fourth with 1,149,000 viewers. Rounding out the top five shows is Hannity and Colmes with an average of 1,124,000 viewers.

FOX & Friends continues as the top morning news show on cable, averaging 651,000 viewers, while CNN�s American Morning with Paula Zahn only averaged 571,000 viewers.

Battling for third place was Headline News and MSNBC. In 24-Hour, Headline News averaged 197,000 households and 118,000 persons 25-54 vs. MSNBC�s 254,000 households and 150,000 persons 25-54. In Prime Time, Headline News averaged 181,000 households and 121,000 persons 25-54 vs. MSNBC�s 293,000 Households and 162,000 persons 25-54.
