 'Spiderman' burglar, 68, scales 20-storey high-rise in Hong Kong Mon Mar 11 2002 21:59:03 ET Hong Kong (dpa) - A 68-year-old ;spiderman'' burglar has been arrested in Hong Kong after being seen scaling the outside of a 20-storey building, police said Tuesday. The agile, aged crook was spotted 10 floors up, using bamboo scaffolding on the outside of the office block in Central, a police spokesman said. He even leapt from one high-rise to a neighbouring six-storey block before officers managed to snare him after he broke into four offices on Monday morning, the spokesman said. Detectives held the man, who was unhurt from his exploits, for questioning on Monday night and were expected to charge him Tuesday with burglary. He was found in possession of around 1,300 U.S. dollars believed to have been looted from the offices. END |
