 NBC WANTED LETTERMAN DAILY IN PRIMETIME Sun Jun 09 2002 17:02:22 ET NBC Entertainment President Jeff Zucker last summer tried to pull David Letterman away from CBS -- away from the Eye and back to the peacock! But this time to host a daily talkshow: in primetime. NBC considered giving Letterman a daily show to air 8 to 9 pm every weeknight except Thursday when the hit "Friends" is broadcast, TV beat veteran Bill Carter is planning to report this week, according to sources. A Letterman insider tells Carter: Zucker might have been able to sway Letterman by shifting Jay Leno to 8 and turning "Tonight" over to Letterman. Zucker declined. On the idea of doing a daily 8 pm show: "Dave had a good laugh over it," said the insider. <> |
