  GOV. ROWLAND XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX SUNDAY AUGUST 18, 2002 19:44:37 ET XXXXX 'DEATH TO THE PRINCE OF DARKNESS!' DEMOCRATS DECLARE IN CHALLENGE TO GOVERNOR Even the most-jaded political watchers have been stunned by the level of raw viciousness unleashed by Democrats against sitting Connecticut Governor John G. Rowland. "Death to the prince of darkness!" the invocation speaker publicly declared at the state's recent Democratic Convention. "In fact, I know things about him that I don't choose to bring out in public today, that I have observed with my own eyes. He is a snake!" the speaker said of Rowland. The DRUDGE REPORT has obtained a video capture of the repulsive prayer-laced invocation delivered by liberal activist Ned Coll. [Click for REALAUDIO]. A clip which regrettably will become a fall sneak preview. MORE Coll's performance received high praise from rank-and-file members in Connecticut -- all the way to the officies of the Democratic National Committee in Washington. "Freedom of speech is a terrible thing, isn't it, Mr. Drudge," laughed a top DNC insider. MORE The race between Gov. John G. Rowland [a close ally of President Bush, and recent White House overnight guest] and his Democratic opponent Bill Curry became the ugliest in the land -- just moments after it was set. Nominated Democrat Curry walked into the Hartford Civic Center -- as the theme music to ROCKY blared -- only to be upstaged by the invocation speaker. "Let us overcome a lot of the big media who are dripping to support Johnny Boy. To win we must decide to win. Death to the Prince of Darkness! Amen," the speaker announced. "This guy is a glorified thug. He's about as honest as his eyes and when you take a look at John Rowland's eyes, be careful you don't regurgitate... All I can do is to look forward to the debate. They are going to have to drag him out of those debates. "Let us look forward to waking up the day after election knowing that massive greed and sin has lost and our sacred state has come home to God... Team Democrat... start your engines!"
