CONFLUENCE OF INTEREST: WOODWARD'S 'TRUE FRIEND' WRITES PAGE ONE NEWS STORY IN WASH POST DETAILING WOODWARD BOOK
Cat calls from the rafters after the WASHINGTON POST runs a Page One news story on assistant managing editor Bob Woodward's new book -- a news story researched and filed by Woodward's 'true friend' Mike Allen!
Woodward's controversial BUSH AT WAR streets Tuesday. But ahead of its release, the POST flagged details in Saturday editions with a front page byline from reporter Mike Allen.

But could this be the same Mike Alllen praised by Woodward, himself, in the acknowledgments of WAR?
"Mike Allen, White House correspondent for the Post, is one of the most gifted and diligent reporters," Woodward writes. "Selfless and a gentleman wise beyond his years, Mike assisted me many times, in many ways, most recently on my visit to Crawford, Texas. He is a true friend."
A 'true friend' writes up a colleague's book on Page One of the nation's premiere newspaper?!
Both Allen and Woodward work together on the paper's 'Young Journalists Development Project' -- likely mentoring students on the merits of 'media synergy'.
'Here's how it is really done in Washington'... or, 'What they didn't dare teach you in journalism school'...
