DRUDGE REPORT 2003®
XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX FRI JAN 10, 2003 16:02:37 ET XXXXX
To: NBC Employees
From: Bob Wright
As many of you have heard, Andy Lack will be leaving NBC to take on an
exciting new opportunity as Chairman and CEO of Sony Music Entertainment.
Andy has made significant contributions to NBC's success over the last
decade, particularly in leading our News organization to a preeminent
industry position. This is an exciting new challenge for Andy, and we wish
him all the success in the world. Andy is a talented leader, and I'm sure
he will make a tremendous impact at Sony.
With Andy's departure, we have an opportunity to reevaluate our
organization in order to maximize our strengths as we move forward. As an
initial step, effective immediately, Telemundo President Jim McNamara will
now report to Jeff Zucker, who in turn will report directly to me. Jeff is
a great partner for Jim, given his experience in news and entertainment
programming, and his fluency in Spanish. As we do not anticipate filling
Andy's position, the remainder of Andy's direct reports will report to me
while we continue to evaluate our operational needs.
I want to reiterate what I communicated to you earlier this week: We are
in terrific shape as an organization, coming off a record-breaking year
that exceeded our expectations in nearly every area. This is a testament
to the strength of our management team and the skill and dedication of all
of you. I am confident that we will continue to perform exceptionally well
as we move into the new year.
Please join me in thanking Andy for his many contributions to NBC and
wishing him all the best.
