POSSIBLE MICHAEL MOORE DINNER INVITE UPSETS WHITE HOUSE OFFICIALS
Fresh off his Bush-bashing speech at last month's Academy Awards, White House officials are growing concerned that DirectorActivist Michael Moore may soon find his way in to the same room as President Bush -- at this year's White House Correspondents Dinner!
"We'd hope all invited guests remember it is a night to honor journalists covering the executive branch," a well-placed White House source told the DRUDGE REPORT.
There is growing concern in Bush circles over the possibility that Moore will be a last-minute, surprise guest of at least one news organization.
"It will sour the entire evening," the White House source explained. "He'll grandstand, he cannot help himself. He'll hold a press conference outside of the hotel! [White House Correspondents Association President] Bob Deans would be wise to take a look at this."
Several media organizations who have considered inviting Moore have had internal debate on its merit, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.
"He seems a little wound up," said one newspaper bureau chief, who asked not to be named. "But it sure would be great publicity."
Moore could not be reached for comment.
At the height of President Clinton's troubles, Paula Jones paraded down the red carpet and waltzed in to the ballroom at the White House Correspondents Dinner -- with maximum media hype.
Last year, rocker Ozzy Osbourne was the buzz guest of FOX NEWS CHANNEL's Greta Van Susteren.
President Bush will attend the dinner, set for April 26 at the Washington Hilton, with first lady Laura Bush -- and several thousand other guests.
