My grandaughter has a pasafier that I would be glad to send them. This is their job. In WW II the boys were gone 4 years. With alot less equipment. Viet Nahm: I lost 2 there and I never heard whining from them. (right or wrong war). I retired from the Air Force 5 years ago and If I could go I would go. Im a woman and 65 but I could be more productive then evidentally they are. They need to come home for they listen to no one but themselves. A sign of the times. If it doesnt feel good dont do it. The Dem.s are the problem. Their poison is demorilizing the troops over there and would rather see our troops die then keep their stupid mouths shut. I may be Rep. but Im trying to be fair. The poison is killing our troops and I feel they are out to get Bush at what cost. My writing and spelling is so bad right now. Im so mad I cant see straight. Bush is the best thing for us at this time. Thank God for him. Sen Levin needs to be in Cuba, where they can show him how the Cow ate the Cabbage. Well I have vented my spleen. Please give us something positive out of Iraq. I know theres plenty of good things going on. I read you every day that Im home. Bless you and our troops, who need us at this time. Yours Jean X X X X X Hey Drudge, What is wrong with you? Seriously! I was really pleased to see that your headline this morning was reporting an important story for once. I find it really REALLY poor taste that you have to go and show off your personal perspective by posting emails blasting these guys. Not one of those emails is in support of the soldiers who have been in Iraq 10 MONTHS! Even Rumsfeld said this was a very long time and hinted they would be coming home. No wonder they're pissed! Not to mention, all the emails you published on this topic are from those who are not currently serving in the military. These people are not in Iraq and they do not know more than the soldiers on the ground. There are those who support these soldier's right to be upset at the way they are being abused right now. I am one of them. There are others who support them as well. I find it very convenient that the emails you posted are from French bashers and war supporters who obviously do not want to hear that there may be disgruntled soldiers. Well there are disgruntled soldiers who miss their families and have been promised a trip home now for too long. Are they unworthy soldiers for speaking from their hearts? How can you celebrate their cause and their bravery and then ignore their most vital needs and call them ungrateful? How can you say they should shut up and do their duty, ignoring their conscience? Don't we expect a little humanity from our soliders anymore? Drudge, please don't post anymore mindless hate mail directed at our troops. No matter what they say, they are still in Iraq fighting for all of us. The best reaction we could have to these complaints would be to listen to them carefully and care for the soldiers that have them. They have been risking their lives, which is something I do not have the will to do, and they deserve a speedy return home and all of our respect. I am serving in the US Navy in Germany, and although I question the validity of the war, I have no choice but to do my job, and the same goes for the men and women in Iraq, disgruntled or not. These FINE AMERICANS are going through hell, did you really expect them to say wonderful things? How dare these people speak of "shipping them off to France"...and to the person who belittled the military members' reasons for joining due to college money: How dare you. Some of us have our degree, and we joined knowing the odds. However, knowing and DOING are two different entities. X X X X X When I was in the Gulf War, we were there for 11 months and we complained about. Our Sergeant Major told us when he was in �Nam he complained about it and that his Sergeant Major told him to that when he was in Korea he complained and that his Sergeant Major told him that when he was in WWII he complained and that when� you get my drift? Nobody in their right mind wants to be in a war zone, but that is their job and, trust me, they are gonna do their job or die. It just so happens that as of 2003, we have the internet access and imbedded reporters and what someone says in one place can be transmitted across the globe in minutes (if not seconds). When soldiers aren�t complaining, well, then it�s time to worry. All the troops in Iraq need to remember one thing: Charlie-Mike (ask someone in uniform what that means if you don�t know). Whenever someone had a different opinion than a reb. now they are French loving anti Americans. This isn't true, the fact is our country is great because we can get what we want, and think what we want. Those troops aren't whining over a war, they're upset because they were told they would be able to return a number of times, then told they had to stay longer. I would also like to say comparing W.W.II to this war is a joke, in W.W.II we were in danger. Sadam only threatened our oil prices. The vast majority of our troops are motivated, and if they only knew how much we support them they would be even more motivated. Please don't play into the hands of those who do not wish us well by finding whiners and amplifying their looser attitude. You know that the media has sought out a few whiney soliders in their ongoing effort to undermine our President as he leads this nation in its fight for survival against the terrorists who want to KILL us. The left is so busy being what they think is cute and au courrant that they have forgotten 9/11 and the 8 years of repeated attacks against Americans during the ineffectual tenure of Bill Clinton. Any solider who speaks against the Commander in Chief and the Secretary of Defense publicly is guilty, in my opnion, of insubbordination. They should be shipped home TO THE BRIG immediately. They are a horrid example and you should not give them attention on your website. They are an embarrasment to the good men and women in our Armed Forces who have 100% of my support, and that of every loyal American. Jean is right, Carl Levin should go to Cuba, and he should bring a big contingent of Anti-American Americans with him. I certainly hoped the left has not achieved their treasured mission of turning Americans into a bunch of crying babies, the more easily to destroy and kill us. A bunch of people sitting here relatively safely in America saying that these troops should be thrown in jail for complaining. Last I checked, the individuals in the military were human beings with human emotions. Seems like they're supposed to be everything: our protectors, our symbols of freedom and protection; and, oh yes, absolutely devoid of any emotion whatsoever. Why shouldn't they miss their families? Why shouldn't they want to return home? Why shouldn't they feel disappointed when they are repeatedly told they are coming home? Iraq seems dismal. It must be very depressing to be in the midst of another country, being shot out, having rocks thrown at you, and so forth. In particular I would like to comment on your recent headline "troops take complaints to TV." I am disgusted that the US troops are complaining in such a way. It is their JOB, that they ENLISTED themselves in (no draft for this war to blame). Not everybody likes their employment, and yes it can be a hassle to not know for certain exactly when you are returning (I have family that is stationed over in Iraq), but to ask for Rumsfield's resignation and consider George W an 'ace' in their deck is disgraceful. These troops should resign their post. MD X X X X X i want to echo the sentiments expressed in the email from jean. would i want to spend a year or more away from my family, half-way across the world, in an environment of potentially mortal danger? hell no, but that's why i've never entertained the notion of joining the military. these disenchanted 'boys' apparently only wanted money for college, but were too stupid to realize there are pell grants and student loans that don't require service in combat and time away from their sweetheart. bellyaching from a soldier?! did they miss basic trainig? or is it just not as bad as i've heard? The problem with liberals is they look at life from the perspective of people who feel defenseless. They shrink from bullies. It looks like our boys overseas are getting the first taste of the (pardon me) "drudgery" of empire. Perhaps that's why our Founding Fathers rejected the imperial model of Britain and advised us to stay out of "entangling alliances" with other nations. It sickens me to see my fellow Americans rally around the flag in celebration of this idea that America's role in the world is one of empire and domination. All I can say about our troops in Iraq is a hearty AMEN to their sentiments and hope for a return to the good sense of the Old Republic. Let's see if the flabby neocons safely behind their desks at the DOD and National Review have the chutzpah to now call the men doing the job "cowards" like they smeared so many traditional conservatives leading up to this thing. Out with Wolfowitz, Perle, Frum, and Goldberg- let's get back to Washington, Jefferson, Madision, and Monroe. X X X X X Mr Drudge I think those so-called soldiers should be thrown into prison. Don't they realize that they are GI's, Government Issue(property)? when I joined the reserves in 83' my recruiter made that very clear to me, that I belonged to the Army, not to myself. When you join the service you do it for one thing, to serve your country, not to go overseas and ridicule your commanders. What those soldiers said on TV counts as insubordination and is punishable under military law. These soldiers need to realize that they live under military law which is not as understanding as civilian law. Those so called soldiers disgrace the United States military and should be punished and summarily dishonorably discharged. What a shame. Shame on you cry babies. You call yourselves men. Just start calling youselves French. Sid X X X X X Hi Matt, What I'd like to see is ABC and other major news sources in Iraq telling our guys how proud we are of them. I'd like to see them arranging for entertainment and supplies that cheer the troops up. Instead what we're seeing is our major media networks doing their level best to turn this into another Vietnam. They prod and poke the troops over there, feeding them every bit of negativity from home that they can provide. They hunt and pick through them until they find a few who are at that moment very homesick, very unhappy about one thing or another or just plain down. It happens, even when they're here in the states, especially with young people who've not been away from home much. I know, because my son calls three times a week and there's no telling what level of anxiety he may be feeling from one call to the next. Once these "let's make another Vietnam out of Iraq" media mongers get their "I don't want to be here" story pieced together they present it as though every GI in Iraq hates the President and demands to be out of there. The fact is, it's NOTHING but media baked, liberal, anti-war hype. My son may soon be heading to Iraq and he's already said that if he's ever given the opportunity he plans to let the liberal media mongers know first hand what he thinks of them, regardless of how he feels about being there. He knows it will be tough going and he knows he'll want to be home most days. But he also knows that's what he signed up for, to go where most men won't and serve his country. And he knows that everyone here is EXTREMELY proud of him for making that decision. I would imagine there are a LOT of guys over there who feel the same way, but we'll never see their interviews on ABC. You can bet you last dollar on that because that wouldn't serve the ABC liberal agenda. Kix Adams X X X X X Drudge -- Am middle-aged Southern lawyer (USAF veteran) who has never voted for a Democrat for President. It is now beginning to appear, however, that this President is as dumb as many thought; and that those people he hired were not nearly so bright as many thought. We've found no WMD; no Saddam, Uday, or Qusay; and we apparently had no post-war plan, whatsoever. Our soldiers are warriors, not peace-keepers. They won this war handily and have been hung out to dry in the desert heat with no prospects of an end in sight. Leave them there indefinitely, and the all-volunteer force is going to disappear within four years. Some of their brave and vocal detractors can then face a return of the draft for themselves or their sons. As a colleague of mine once observed, even a bad plan is better than no plan at all. Serious thought should be given to the tripartition of Iraq. Leave the North to the Kurds and/or the Turks; leave the South to the Shias; and leave the ungrateful central Sunni portion to twist in the desert wind with no food, no oil, and no prospects.
