SPEAKER OF HOUSE HASTERT SIGNS BOOK DEAL Tue Jul 29 2003 17:14:15 ET Speaker Hastert cannot get advance for book due to ethics committee and rules; Hillary signed her deal right before she took the oath WASHINGTON -- A book by Speaker J. Dennis Hastert regarding his rise to and service as Speaker of the United States House of Representatives will be published by Regnery Publishing, Inc. The announcement was made today by Marji Ross, President and Publisher of Regnery Publishing, Inc. MORE The book, a reflection by Speaker Hastert on his experiences and thoughts on events including the impeachment, Speaker Newt Gingrich�s resignation, the 2000 Presidential Election, September 11, and the war on terrorism, will be published in hardcover by Regnery Publishing, Inc. in 2004. According to Randy Evans of Arnall Golden Gregory LLP, who represented Speaker Hastert in the negotiations, Regnery Publishing, Inc., acquired world publishing rights to the book - including pre- and post-publication serial rights, English language and translation rights, and audio and electronic rights. Mr. Evans confirmed that the contract for the book had been submitted to and approved by the Committee on Standards of Official Conduct of the United States House of Representatives. The terms of the agreement are not being disclosed.
