DIANE TRAPPED IN GILDED RATINGS: 'GMA' SWEEPS TOP CITIES, NEWS STAR FIGHTS EXHAUSTION, SCHEDULE; ABC WANTS MORE YEARS
She has emerged as not only ABC's hottest star [in any Daypart] but one of TV's very top faces.
Yet GOOD MORNING AMERICA host Diane Sawyer increasingly feels trapped in an excruciating pre-dawn work schedule, top sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT.

"She desperately wants to give up the vampire hours!" a key production source explained from New York on Tuesday. "She was told it would only be a few months [the early morning hosting job], but there is no end in sight. Now ABC wants her to commit to more years!"
In a stunning industry upset, Sawyer and GOOD MORNING AMERICA have scored daily ratings wins in top cities, over rival Katie Couric and NBC's TODAY.
GMA topped TODAY in 8 of the nation's Top Ten markets on Tuesday morning, NIELSEN research shows.
[But the race remains red-hot: When the Nationals are released on Thursday for last week, TODAY could surpass 7 million viewers. The last time TODAY hit 7 million viewers was the week of 12/11/00]
Sawyer has now constantly passed Couric in New York City in the ratings, securing top bragging rights.

At Tuesday evening's premiere of her husband Mike Nichols's new HBO movie ANGELS IN AMERICA, paparazzi treated Sawyer like there was no bigger face in a face-filled room. She was a bigger star at the Ziegfield than Meryl and Emma or everyone else. A New York City civic warrior, Sawyer's also at the New York Public Library fundraiser and the New York City landmarks dinner. All this week!
Just as she also continues to set the pace in the primetime interview wars, landing the first interview next week with Pvt. Jessica Lynch.
