 Support The DrudgeReport; Visit Our Advertisers  Power cut hits Athens Acropolis Fri Jul 16 2004 11:19:47 ET The Athens Acropolis and two nearby city quarters were dogged by voltage drops and electricity cuts for more than an hour on Thursday, three days after a general power failure struck half of Greece. The incidents have occurred a month before Athens hosts the August 13-29 Olympics. "Power went on and off three or four times during the past hour, but the problem has been fixed now," an employee at the Acropolis museum told AFP on 16:20 pm (13H20 GMT). The blackout was caused by a cut power line, a spokeswoman for Greece's electricity utility PPC said. Large parts of tourist quarters of Acropolis and Theission district were blacked out for as long as two hours. |
