OPRAH WINFREY SIGNS WITH KING WORLD PRODUCTIONS
FOR NEW THREE-YEAR CONTRACT;
TO CONTINUE AS HOST AND PRODUCER OF
"THE OPRAH WINFREY SHOW" THROUGH 2010-2011

Santa Monica, CA, August 5, 2004 -- Oprah Winfrey, the most successful talk show host and producer in the history of television, has renewed with King World Productions to continue her multi-award-winning, #1-rated series, The Oprah Winfrey Show, through the 2010-2011 television season, which will mark the series� 25th year in syndication. The announcement was made jointly today by Harpo Productions, Inc., the producer of The Oprah Winfrey Show, and by Roger King, CEO, CBS Enterprises and King World Productions, which distributes the series.
In addition, the series has already been renewed on the key ABC O&O incumbents, comprising WABC (New York), KABC (Los Angeles), WLS (Chicago), WPVI (Philadelphia), KGO (San Francisco), WTVD (Raleigh-Durham) and KFSN (Fresno), through the 2010-2011 television season.
The Oprah Winfrey Show will produce 140 original episodes for each of the 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 seasons, as well as 130 original episodes for the 2010-2011 season. In addition, commencing with the upcoming season, The Oprah Winfrey Show plans to increase its first-run commitment from 130 to 140 original episodes per season. This represents a total of 40 new shows between 2004-2008 that Harpo decided would help build upon its already strong base.
In the last sweeps period, May 2004, The Oprah Winfrey Show has shown great growth posting its highest rating in seven years among households, W18-34, W 18-49 and W25-54. The series also ranked #1 in its time period in the overwhelming majority of its markets in households and key demos. The series has ranked #1 among talk shows for 71 consecutive sweeps periods.

"The years ahead will allow me to continue to grow along with my viewers and will give my production company the time and opportunity to use the show as a launching pad to create and develop additional projects and potential future shows."

The most-successful, highest-rated talk show in global television history, The Oprah Winfrey Show enters its 19th season in September 2004. The Oprah Winfrey Show is currently broadcast on 212 stations throughout the United States, representing 100% of the country. In addition, the series is distributed to 107 countries worldwide by CBS Broadcast International, a division of CBS Enterprises.
Since the 1986 national premiere of The Oprah Winfrey Show, Oprah has been recognized with hundreds of professional, educational and civic honors. The Oprah Winfrey Show has received 38 Daytime Emmy Awards, including nine Emmys for "Outstanding Talk Show" and seven Emmys for "Outstanding Talk Show Host." Her other honors include the George Foster Peabody Individual Achievement Award (1996), the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences� Lifetime Achievement Award (1998), the National Book Foundation�s 50th Anniversary Gold Medal (1999) and the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences' Bob Hope Humanitarian Award (2002).
