James McGreevey has yet to submit an official letter of resignation, officials said Monday. A spokesman for the Department of State confirmed that McGreevey, 12 days after his historic announcement, had not given them the required letter to abandon the governor's office before the end of his four-year term. The EASTON EXPRESS TIMES report: "What he announced was his intention," Micah Rasmussen, a McGreevey spokesman, said of the timing of McGreevey's letter. 'It will be done at the appropriate time." Without the letter, under state law, a sitting elected official technically remains in office, officials said. END |
