Michael Chertoff was chief Republican counsel to the famed Senate committee delving into former President Clinton and Hillary Rodham Clinton's Arkansas business dealings. Mrs. Clinton, now a senator representing New York, will be among those considering Chertoff's nomination, which must be confirmed by the Senate.
