Mon Jun 27 2005 09:12:33 ET
Sir Elton John warmed up for the LIVE8 concert, which aims to draw world leaders' attention to poverty in Africa, with a glamorous African-themed White Tie and Tiara Ball -- fit with real zebras and men in gorilla suits!
The weather was balmy at Sir Elton's mansion in Windsor; the heatwave perfectly suited the fundraiser's African theme.
Giraffes "greeted" guests including actress Liz Hurley and rocker Rod Stewart.
An African band played as guests drank champagne and cocktails made from African fruits, and enjoyed African-themed nibbles.
Sir Elton had the dinner marquee designed like a safari lodge. Real zebras and men in gorilla suits added to the atmosphere!
Sir Elton performed some of his greatest hits, including a track from the LION KING.
LIVE8 concerts take place next week in 8 cities and is part of an unprecedented effort to pressure the leaders of the G8 nations to strike a deal to erase Africa's debt, double aid and boost trade.
