 Support The DrudgeReport; Visit Our Advertisers  MIERS VOTED FOR REAGAN IN '84 Fri Oct 07 2005 17:24:18 ET **Exclusive** The DRUDGE REPORT has learned from a senior official on Harriet Miers? confirmation team that her political evolution began in 1984 during the Reagan revolution when she voted to reelect President Ronald Reagan. DRUDGE sources have also uncovered Miers? Dallas County voting file which reveals she voted in the 1988 Republican primary and also in that year?s Republican primary run-off. A senior official also revealed that Miers voted for George H.W. Bush who went on to win the ?88 Texas primary with 64 percent of the vote. Earlier in the week controversy erupted in conservative circles when it was learned Miers had made $3,000 worth of campaign donations in 1988 to Democrats including Al Gore. One Republican strategist said, ?As more and more information comes out about Harriet Miers the more our people will understand why the President made the choice he did. Clearly more information is needed about Ms. Miers, but the information we?ve gotten so far is a significant step in the right direction and we?ve come a long way since Monday.? Developing... |
