NYT PLANS SPLASH ON TILLMAN INQUIRY
Mon Mar 20 2006 19:19:04 ET
Editors at the NEW YORK TIMES are planning a Tuesday splash on the highly unusual criminal investigation of the killing in Afghanistan of Cpl. Pat Tillman.
An examination of three administrative reviews by the Army, reveals shifting testimony, the destruction of obvious evidence in the case, and a series of contradictions about the distances, the lighting conditions and other details surrounding the shooting, the paper will detail.
Defense Department's inspector is looking separately into the Army's conduct in the aftermath of the killing of the former Arizona Cardinals safety.
The TIMES is planning thousands of words for a high-impact rollout in Tuesday editions, newsroom sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT.
The paper has trailed the WASHINGTON POST in coverage of the Tillman case.
