SAN FRAN MAYOR IN FRESH MEDIA CONTROVERSY Thurs Apr 5, 2007 15:28:02 ET San Francisco mayor Gavin Newsom, fresh from rehab after being caught in an affair with his former deputy's wife, has caused controversy in San Francisco when he briefly opened his mouth around a local reporter's microphone. Print, radio and TV reporters at hand for a press conference were 'suprised' and 'amused' when Newsom grabbed the stick and briefly looked to be jokingly performing oral sex. One local reporter tells the DRUDGE REPORT, "I was surprised he did that. I didn't feel it was appropriate at all." Prominent local blogger Beth Spotswood immediately wrote, "I think Channel 2 started it when they shoved their microphone so close to Gavin's face that he pretended to blow it." At ABC7NEWS.com, where the video can be seen, one commenter wrote, "He's stupid. There's a time and place to joke around, but when you're on camera, you should watch what you say and do if you're an elected official ... Gavin is self-destructing. Another writes: "Being a Chicagoan, I am used to many instances of our beloved king Daley brushing reporters questions aside, but this display was incredible.
